Former President Jerry John Rawlings has reiterated his stance trust in President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to deliver.
He explained that Nana Akufo-Addo has “certain principles and values” which could help in the fight against corruption.
“We are very fortunate also that somebody like Nana Akufo-Addo has emerged over here. People think I love that man to high heavens. No. But I respect him for certain principles and values,” Flt. Lt. Rawlings, who governed the country for about two decades, made the comment when a group of movie actors from Ghana and Nigeria paid a courtesy call on him at his Ridge residence in Accra over the weekend.
“I will continue to pray and sincerely hope that he will devote possibly even 30 per cent of his time, 70 per cent for the development and project, etc. but at least 25 to 30 per cent he would probably need more than that to fight corruption and corruptible tendencies,” the former President Rawlings opined.
Nana Akufo-Addo, won the December 2016 presidential election after a third attempt, and assumed office in January 7 2017 as thefifth president under the Fourth Republic.
He beat former president John Dramani Mahama in a historic poll which gave him a comfortable majority in Parliament.
